Community minibus
"If it wasn't for the minibus and its wheelchair access, I wouldn't be able to go anywhere."
Our distinctive yellow minibus picks up its passengers from their homes and takes them shopping, to club events, to lunches and on day trips. It offers a lifeline to many people with mobility issues or without transport who would be housebound without it.

Using our service
We run a number of regular services to local supermarkets and town centres. We ask for a donation of £4 per person for trips outside Alresford, and £2 for journeys within Alresford.
To use the minibus service, you must first register as a passenger by downloading and completing a passenger registration form and sending it to Minibus@towntrust.org.uk
The minibus and our drivers can also be booked by community groups or for local events. To enquire, complete this group registration form and send it to Minibus@towntrust.org.uk

Meet our drivers
All our drivers are local volunteers who give up their time to support their community and help those who are less mobile.
"Your drivers are all so kind; one of them even carried my shopping into my house and helped me put it away".

Angela
I've been driving the Community minibus for 3 years now. I also help out with the admin such as passenger registration and bookings, and driver rotas.

Bernard
I started driving the yellow bus in 1989 when my company allowed me time out to volunteer. I regularly drive the Friday shopping trip. I've had many roles supporting the Trust as driver, manager and advisor. I helped in the procurement of the last two buses enabling the Town Trust to choose the best bus for our needs.

David
I have been driving for 13 years, following my retirement. The thing I enjoy most about the minibus driving is hearing the stories and conversations of the passengers - their experiences and history.

Heidi
I have recently moved to Alresford and thought driving the minibus would be a good way to get to know people in my new home town and give something back to the community. I'm still learning so please be patient with me!

Jane
I've been driving the minibus for three years. I started to drive when my work became part-time, and I had the opportunity to give back to the community. I love driving for the lunch club - you have such great conversations and learn so much.

Ken
After retiring from Rotary after 25 years, I decided to continue serving our local community as a NATT minibus driver. I am now the primary Minibus Manager, responsible for ensuring the minibuses comply with Section 19 of the Road Traffic Act and for maintaining them in a roadworthy condition. I also brief new drivers on the safety features and operation of our minibuses.

Manny
I'm fairly new to the area and, now I’ve retired, it’s a good way to meet new people and help others in the community. Trips in the minibus are normally good humoured with friendly banter so enjoyable to do. Hopefully, when I can no longer drive, it will be my turn to be a passenger!

Martin
I moved to Alresford about 9 months ago to be near family. I had volunteered at Bournemouth Hospital and saw the benefits that patients could get from seeing a friendly and happy face. I wanted to continue to help others and the minibus does exactly that. I am so proud to be part of such a vital service and help the community I live in.

Paul
I've been driving the minibus for more than 10 years and currently undertake 3 regular trips each month. I really enjoy driving the lovely people from our community. They are great company and we have good fun.

Peter
I've always enjoyed driving. Over the years I've spent plenty of time behind the wheel, so driving the Yellow Bus felt like a natural fit. I like having something practical to do and to be useful, and this seemed a good way to do that. It's also a nice excuse to get out, meet people, and keep doing something I've always enjoyed.

Ross
I started driving the yellow bus about 3 years ago to give something back to the town I've lived in for 45 years. It's a pleasure to take some of our older residents to places they wouldn't otherwise be able to get to.

Become a minibus driver
We have around 30 regular drivers, and we're always keen to welcome more to the team. You will need to have a D1 licence, and be available to do a regular trip for half a day, once per month (although you can do more than that if you want!).
If you'd like to join the team, contact minibus@towntrust.org.uk
