Broad Street Markets and Fairs
New Alresford was created as a Market Town and has held a regular market in Broad Street for over 800 years. When the Town Trust was created in 1890, it was given Pavage Rights, which means we have the right to collect tolls for all markets and fairs in Broad Street. We believe that being a Market Town is what makes Alresford more than just a village and aim to have a good range of markets and fairs through the year that offer value and choice, enjoyment and fun for both locals and visitors. See our calendar of events for specific fixtures and dates.
Weekly Thursday Market
Our weekly market trades from 8am to 1pm every Thursday, offering great value and quality. Stalls include flowers, fruit and veg, bread, cake and pastries, Italian olives and antipasti, French cheese and paté, women's clothes, pet treats, and homewares. There is also a fantastic knife sharpener and a wonderful bike repair service. We also welcome local businesses and charities looking for one-off stalls to raise funds or awareness.
If you would be interested in having a stall at the Thursday market, contact clerk@towntrust.org.uk.

October Funfair (aka The Sheep Fair)
For one day only! From 3pm to 10pm on the Thursday on or after 11th October, Broad Street is completely filled with the lights and sounds of a huge Funfair. The best night of the year for anyone under 20, and quite a lot of people over 20 too! This fair has been running for centuries, originally as an annual Sheep Fair, then evolving into a Victorian Pleasure Fair, and now a traditional Funfair. (Please note that Broad Street is closed to traffic from noon on the Wednesday till 7am on the Friday).

Annual Eco Fair
The Eco Fair has now become an annual summer fixture in Alresford. The Town Trust are joint organisers with New Leaf. The Eco Fair brings together local charities and community groups as well as organic and sustainable producers to raise awareness of environmental and ecological issues. Its an opportunity to learn how we can all play a part in protecting our precious environment and wildlife, reduce our carbon footprints and live more sustainably.
If you would be interested in having a stall at the next Eco Fair, contact clerk@towntrust.org.uk.
